iRobot Roomba 694
The Roomba 694 from iRobot is an entry-level robot vacuum that performs well on both carpets with low pile and bare floors. The IQ has a tiny footprint and also a self-emptying function. If you'd like to change the floor level or set areas that are not allowed to be used, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated features, but it isn't equipped with no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, although it is prone to get caught up on rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you control the robot using voice commands.
In our tests during our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient on shag carpets, which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a bit slower on floors that were not paved, but it regained speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a more suitable option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It also comes with a mopping attachment that can handle sticky mess. The iRobot, however, feels better built, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance, incurs less ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It can even resume the cleaning process from where it left off in case it runs out of battery before finishing the job. The iRobot is also controlled by voice, which can be an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available but it does provide great cleaning power for a low price. This robot vacuum is designed for budget-conscious consumers who don't need a complex mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for up to an hour and comes with a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic and is made to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice stylistic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S did well in more info our tests of removing larger debris and fine dust from hard floors. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device also has a tendency to smack into furniture and people in its path however, it's able detect obstacles with sensors. It ceases and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstruction. It is then possible to manually steer the device around the obstacle and return it to working.
The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the Eufy11S. It lets you set the robot up to automatically adjust suction strength based on the type of floor and the amount of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired area.
Single Room Mode is a great option if you have little furniture in the area you'd like to vacuum. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
